Overview:
Substance addiction affects at least 10% of people, and in fields like construction, that figure can exceed 20%. Often, by the time substance use becomes apparent at work, the individual has struggled with it for a decade or more. Substance use can impact the workplace through more frequent injuries, lower morale, increased absences, and higher insurance costs, all of which can impact productivity and the bottom line. Recognizing the signs and knowing how to respond are crucial skills. This workshop will equip you with strategies to spot and manage this widespread safety issue, helping you reduce risk and support employee health and wellness.
This workshop will include:
- Recognizing the physical and behavioural signs of drug and alcohol use
- Appreciating legal and ethical responsibilities
- Discussing the role of testing
- Planning for strategies to address and prevent use
Facilitator: Nadine Wentzell
