Overview: In this course you will take away principles that lead to sustaining our surface water supply, which in turn supports economic development, sustains health of humans and aquatic ecosystems, protects the environment, and sustains a high quality of life for Nova Scotians.
Topics:
- Distinguish among the legislation that governs erosion and sediment control activities
- Discuss the relevance of due diligence
- Differentiate between activities that require approval and those that require notification
- Give examples of common causes of problems on construction sites
- Give examples of causes of erosion on building sites
- Give examples of how to practice the principles of Erosion & Sediment Control
- Indicate what elements must be in an Erosion & Sediment Control plan
- Distinguish among the activities that take place during assessment of risk of erosion
- Indicate how construction activities sequenced in erosion and sediment control plans
- Indicate how do BMPs for erosion control reduce erosion potential
- Identify the primary goal when selecting appropriate control measures

Cancellation Policy
-Cancellations must be received no later than 10 business days prior to the course date to be eligible for a 75% refund of registration fees.
-No refunds will be issued after this date.
-If you register for the course and do not attend, you are liable for the full registration fee unless you cancel according to the terms stated above.
-If you are unable to attend after registering you may send a substitute up to and including the day of the course. Please provide a name and email address for name tag and records.
-CANS reserves the right to cancel any course and will, in such an event, provide a full refund of registrations fees. Every effort will be made to give registrants a reasonable notice of cancellation.
